Samsung’s Exynos 850 is an 8nm Chip is an Affordable Android Smartphone

Samsung is designing its Exynos chipsets for many years. This Korean smartphone maker uses Qualcomm Snapdragon and Exynos processors for its flagship and upper mid-range devices, but it uses its in-house Exynos chips for the budget smartphones. Recently, Samsung has published a product page for new entries in their Exynos lineup of processors, i.e., the Exynos 850.

Exynos 850 processor can be found in the Samsung Galaxy A21s, and it is on the lower end of Samsung’s Galaxy A lineup. As per the specifications given on the product page, the Exynos 850 has an octa-core CPU, which comprises two clusters of ARM Cortex-A55 cores that scans up to 2.0GHz. It also has ARM’s Mali-G52 GPU and supports LPDDR4X RAM, eMMC 5.1 storage, Cat.7 LTE, Full HD+ (1080p) display panels, and many more. The chipset is built up by using Samsung’s modern 8nm LPP process.

The Exynos 850 supports up to 1080p60 video recording, 21.7MP image processing from a single camera of 16MP + 5MP from dual cameras, and encoding in HEVC/h.265.

The Galaxy A21s is the first smartphone that supports this processor, and it has a 48MP quad rear camera setup, an HD+ Infinity-O panel, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. It may happen that this SoC will come in other Samsung budget-friendly Android smartphones in the coming time.
