HMD Global is having a lot of hope on 5G to restore the Nokia smartphone division’s prosperity. To attain back its faded glory, the company is relying upon the latest medium-range 5G ready SoCs announced by Qualcomm.
The company has announced that it will be soon launching the Nokia 5G smartphone that comes up with the latest Snapdragon 765 SoC along with an integrated Snapdragon X52 5G modem.
HMD Global has also shared a teaser image of its forthcoming Nokia 5G phone that shows a glossy finish curved rear panel, side-mounted fingerprint, and the back with a circular camera module.
The Cheif Product Officer of the Finnish company, Juho Sarvikas, took over the stage on the first day of the Snapdragon summit by Qualcomm. He announced that a new Nokia brand phone would be launched, and Snapdragon 765 SoC powers that.
The forthcoming smartphone’s poster teaser was released on the stage, which shows a copper-colored frame, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor can be seen below the volume rocker.
The in-house Zeiss camera technology, which is seen most of the premium Nokia brand phones, can also be found in this upcoming 5G phone. In addition, the phone will be available with PureDisplay technology, which offers HDR10 video playback support. Also upscales SDR content to HDR by taking the support of a dedicated 16-bit engine in real-time. The expected Nokia phone also may be leveraged by 4K HDR video recording support.
Sarvikas quoted that “Our top priority for the year 2020 is making 5G more accessible. Delivering an affordable yet premium grade, future proof 5G experience for the best possible performance in SA and NSA networks with the Snapdragon 765 Mobile Platform.”
His quote also hinted that the forthcoming Nokia phone might give dual-mode support for 5G (SA+NSA support).
The HMD Global executive did not reveal any details of its forthcoming phone. Still, it rumored to be the Nokia 8.2, and its specifications were leaked in July this year. The details might be officially released at the company’s event today in Cairo.
