It has been a long time since the launch of iPhone SE in 2016 that is no longer directly sold by Apple. But now it seems that Apple is planning to launch the successor of iPhone SE by 2020 but with a different name.
Macotakara, a Japanese blog, has claimed in its report that the new iPhone SE successor of Apple will likely be named as iPhone 9 rather than iPhone SE 2. It is because the chassis of the new phone will be the same as that of the iPhone 8.
The smartphone is anticipated to feature 3GB of RAM, 64 GB storage, 4.7-inch display with bezels with a much faster A13 Bionic chip, and might start at $399 price range.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst, this new phone is set to start its production in January 2020 and planning for a launch in March 2020.
The iPhone SE 2 (iPhone 9) will employ a Substrate of 10 layers like PCB (SLP) for its motherboard, which is the identical technology used by the iPhone 11 version.
Many of the iPhone suppliers will get benefited from this, including AT&S, Xinxing, and Pending Holdings, yet the SLP component costs less compared to the one used in the devices of the iPhone 11 series.
The iPhone SE 2, will feature a Touch ID fingerprint reader, but not Face ID. It will not have any 3D Touch feature, which Apple also has removed from the iPhone 11.
The iPhone 9 will come up with three color variants, such as Space Grey, Red, and Silver.
Previously, Ming-Chi Kuo had also said that the tech giant Apple was planning to launch an augmented reality (AR) headset, a new MacBook, and a new iPad Pro by the first half of 2020.
