Last year, Vivo joined hands with Xiaomi and Oppo to build a “Peer-to-Peer Transmission Alliance,” a P2P (Peer to Peer) Cross Brand wireless file transfer system that would be in a click.
Now, all three companies declared that they are taking the Wi-Fi-based file transfer feature globally. They also have announced the details concerning its phone compatibility and availability.
The seamless peer-to-peer Cross Brand wireless file transfer feature is presently live on some of the Xiaomi and Oppo smartphones in India and a host of other countries. On the other hand, next month, Vivo phones would land support for the P2P file transfer feature.
The P2P technology for the data transfer between Vivo, Xiaomi, and Oppo phones does not need any connectivity of the internet and further depends on Bluetooth for quick pairing to transfer files at an average speed of 20Mb/s. Concerning the availability, Xiaomi says that the P2P file transfer feature would be available on all phones that run on Android Pie or the latest version.
However, it will not be available on Redmi 6, Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 6A, Redmi 7, Redmi 7A, Redmi S2, Redmi 8, Redmi Note 8, Redmi 8A, and Redmi Note 8T. On Xiaomi phones, the feature of the file transfer is called Mi Share.
All the Oppo phones that are running on Android 10-based ColorOS 7 or a new version will be supporting the feature. The smartphones that are running on a trial version of ColorOS 7 include Oppo’s Reno 2, F11 Pro, Reno 10X Zoom, the Oppo F11, and F11 Pro Marvel’s Avengers Limited Edition.
The P2P wireless file transfer feature is available under the name of Oppo Share in the quick settings menu. Yet, Oppo has promised to increase the availability of the feature of Oppo Share file transfer to more phones in the Find series, R series, Reno series, F series, A series, and the Oppo K3 over forthcoming months.
On the other hand, Vivo, says that the P2P wireless file transfer feature will arrive on its phones from next month.
