On September 24, 2019, Xiaomi officially unveiled its custom User Interface MIUI 11. Now the Chinese manufacturer confirmed its next-generation custom UI MIUI 12 is officially on the way soon. The company unveils a new version at the beginning of every year.
Apart from confirming the MIUI 12, Xiaomi has not released any data regarding the latest UI. Since there is no information on this new user interface, we are not sure what it brings to us. We expect more details on this in the coming weeks.
MIUI is one of the major offerings from Xiaomi. The company has first released it in 2010 and updated it along the way until now. MIUI 12 update will mark the tenth anniversary of the company’s UI. Hence it is expected to bring considerable changes to the UI. It is curious to find what the company has planned for the latest update.
A teaser was posted on Weibo regarding MIUI 12 update. It indicates that MIUI 12 is likely to retain the minimalistic design and may include new system fonts that we saw on MIUI 11. Some new shades and color schemes are expected due to the gradient effect on the number “12” in the teaser.
One of the developers who is working on this upcoming update said, “With MIUI 12, the company may release a global system-wide dark mode.”
When stable MIUI 11 was introduced to the majority of Xiaomi and Redmi devices in October 2019, the company’s executive, Xu Jieyun, General Manager of Public Relations, confirmed that they are working on developing a new MIUI update.

The latest MIUI launch brought in many new things to the widespread custom OS. Those include a system-wide dark mode, the visual features, a new Mi Lan Pro system font, you will get slightly softer icons, and enhanced always-ON display functionality. New wallpapers, new themes, animations, and improved notification systems.
MIUI 11 also focuses on improving the audio experience with alarms and all-new dynamic natural sound effects. Xiaomi also announced a new Mi-Go Travel suite that helps you with booking tickets for a wide range of transport ranging from rail to airplane and bus alongside an extreme power-saving mode and currency conversion.
