Google has come up with a “Google IT Automation with Python Professional Certificate” program, a program designed to provide job-ready skills in Git, Python, and IT automation. This is a six-month program from Google.
Natalie Van Kleef Conley Product Lead, Grow with Google in a statement on Thursday, said, “Now Python is the most in-demand programming language. More than 530,000 US jobs, which include 75,000 entry-level jobs, require proficiency in Python. With this new certificate program, you can learn Git, Python, and IT automation in just six months.”
The program includes a final project in which learners have to use their new skills to solve a problem they might experience on the job, such as building a web service using automation, etc.
“To ensure learners from underserved backgrounds have access to both IT Professional Certificates, Google.org will fund 2,500 need-based scholarships through nonprofits like Goodwill, Merit America, Per Scholas, and Upwardly Global. Along with top employers like Walmart, Hulu, and Sprint, the company considers program completers when hiring for IT roles,” Conley added.
In October last year, Sundar Pichai- Google CEO and Ivanka Trump- White House advisor announced a program to provide training opportunities to 250,000 Americans in teaching technology skills.
Pichai also mentioned that this program for certifying IT professionals is set to expand to 100 US community colleges mostly by the end of 2020.
