This new feature would turn your phone into a smart display. You can use this smart display to present information from the current weather, calendar, notifications, music controls, reminders, and smart home controls. You can see the dynamic slideshow on the dashboard for the controlling of home devices while on a charge. You can even use the new feature to display a photo slideshow from Google Photos. It is a great way to repurpose old Android tablets.
In its official forum post, OnePlus reported that the company made a partnership with Google to bring the Google Assistant-powered Ambient Mode to all its OnePlus devices. The Google Assistant Ambient Mode is rolling out for the OnePlus 3 smartphone, and it will reach all the phones very soon.
However, it is rolled out in a phased manner, and it takes time to reach all the phones that are compatible.
Users should note that the feature is compatible with phones that run on Android Oreo or the later versions.
On receiving this feature on your OnePlus phone, you can follow the below-given path to enable Google Assistant Ambient Mode:
Google App Settings > Assistant > Devices (Phone).
An alternative way is to connect the charger to your phone and then tap on the Ambient Mode notification. Then follow the setup process to enable the feature on your smartphone.
Google Assistant Ambient Mode also lets users control music playback with a single tap.
