If you are one of those few people who is using the Moto G4 plus XT1640-44, then you might want to flash your phone to the latest edition of Android Nougat, as the phone has been designed to run on Android 7.0.
Although without flashing also you can get a brilliant performance on your phone, if you choose to flash it, the results might be a lot better than what you thought you would experience. Steps to Install Nougat build for the Moto G4 Plus via Fastboot
- Download and Install ADB drivers from the download section.
- Now, download Moto G4 Plus Nougat ZIP.
- Move downloaded ZIP file to ADB folder
- Enable the USB debugging on your device after enabling ‘Developer Options’ by going to ‘About phone’ and tapping build number 7 times.
- Go to the ADB folder you created in Step 3 and then press “Shift + Right mouse key” and tap on “Open command window here.”
- Now connect your device to the PC using a USB data cable.
- Boot your device into “Fastboot” mode and give the following command reboot bootloader
adb reboot bootloader
- Your device will start booting in fastboot mode. Now to flash recovery image on the device type the following command.
- Now the file you have downloaded, extract it to the desktop
- Copy the extracted files on your fastboot directory
- Inside the Fastboot folder, you will find an “OEM Flash.bat” script, run the script (Window users)
- With it, Nougat factory image installation process starts on your phone
- Once the installation gets complete, Moto G4 Plus will automatically reboot
- Done!!!

- Download and Install ADB drivers from the download section.
- Now, download Moto G4 Plus Nougat ZIP.
- Move downloaded ZIP file to ADB folder

Few Pointers:
1. As the file is compressed using the 7zip, obviously then you needs a dedicated app to extract it. Trying winzip and winrar will not be of any use as they will end up in showing error. Download 7zip from here

2. “OEM Flash.bat” can wipe your data if you return from a custom ROM so better be cautious by wiping your data in advance to avoid the situation of system crash and bugs
