LG has not announced a new flagship smartphone this year at MWC. But on second thought the company announced a new variant of their current V30 smartphones named as the V30S ThinQ & V30S+ ThinQ. But disappointingly there is nothing special to excite us in the new variant.
There were so many rumors surrounding V30S ThinQ and V30S+ ThinQ and just like the predictions in the rumors, these new variants backpack nothing new than a memory upgrade over the existing model. Despite the fact that we have two new variants the V30S ThinQ and V30S+ ThinQ stand for 6GB RAM, 128 GB storage and 6GB RAM, 256GB storage respectively, we do not have to look at anything new, at least regarding hardware.
When coming into the specifications, the new LG V30S ThinQ has been powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC. It is sported with the same 6-inch full view OLED display and is also powered by the same 3000 mAh battery as in the predecessor. The dual camera setup is also the same as in the last year update.
Talking about the software side of the things, the device is running on Android 8.0 Oreo. Putting an end to the wonder on the name “ThinQ,” it is said to be LG all-new AI that extends throughout the V30S UI. There is an AI CAM in the device, and it is simply a layer of AI on top of the camera viewfinder that is designed to recognize the subject of the short and adjust the camera settings according to that. As of the news up-to-the-minute, it can detect things like animals, cities/buildings, flowers, sunrise, sunset, etc.
Talking about the QLens, it can recognize or at least do a try to recognize specific objects for online search shopping, etc. QLens can also read QR codes. But over that, there is nothing to do about QLens. There is a feature named bright mode with which the low light performance of the camera can be improved.
LG has confirmed that all these features will be coming to the current V30 model as well which seems to be an exciting decision by LG as it has left nothing pretty much attractive to the newly launched devices. But if you are still interested in buying the new variants of the LG V30, then it will be made available sometime next month in the new Moroccan blue and Platinum grey colors. The pricing and availability are yet to confirm by LG; howbeit the company claims that the new variants will replace the current models in some markets.
