As the global coronavirus pandemic crash continues to grow, with more than 100,000 cases reported worldwide, including dozens in Southern California, many organizers have decided to postpone or cancel programs across the Southland. Sporting shows are also going to be played in an empty field, with no fans allowed inside.
In Southern California, the latest reports of canceled events that are expected to draw in large crowds have been announced almost daily.
Canceled or postponed Sporting Events 2020 Due to Coronavirus:
10th MARCH: All men’s and women’s Big West Tournament basketball games being played in Anaheim and Long Beach on 10th March to 14th will have no spectators. The games are being played at the Walter Pyramid on the campus of Long Beach State University and Honda Center in Anaheim.
11th MARCH: The Pac-12 declared that it had canceled the men’s basketball tournament and all other events of Sports. NCAA states all men’s and women’s tournament games will be held without fans.
11th MARCH: The NBA announces it will dangling its season, valid after Wednesday night’s games after a player tested positive for coronavirus.
12th MARCH: Major League Soccer has canceled its season for a period of at least thirty days.
12th MARCH: Big West Conference tournament has been canceled.
12th MARCH: National Hockey League announces “pause” to the 2019-2020 season.
12th MARCH: Santa Anita Park will close to the public “effective immediately.”
12th MARCH: Major League Baseball will suspend spring training and lag the start of the regular season.
12th MARCH: NCAA canceled men’s & women’s Division I basketball tournaments days before March Madness tourney.
12th MARCH: The Los Angeles County Air program is scheduled for March 21th & 22th is canceled due to coronavirus concerns.
12th MARCH: The Long Beach Grand Prix, scheduled for 17th April &19th, has been canceled.
13th MARCH: The 2020 Redlands Bicycle Classic planned for April has been canceled. And also Masters Tournament scheduled for 6th April to 12th has been postponed.
14th MARCH: Pechanga Resort Casino will be temporarily closed from Monday, 16th March at noon through 31st March

15th MARCH: Beverly Hills City Hall is now closed to the public until the next notice, and it will operate as a Virtual City Hall.
14th MARCH: Big Bear Mountain and Southern California ski resorts Mammoth Mountain will shut down starting Sunday until further notice.
14th MARCH: Long Beach Pride scheduled for 15th May to 17th has been postponed.
14th MARCH: The Commerce Hotel & Casino, The Gardens Casino in Hawaiian Gardens, Hollywood Park Casino, and The Bicycle Hotel & Casino in Bell Gardens, will close this end of the week and remain closed indefinitely.
13th March: All Department of Recreation & Parks facilities in the city of Sherman Oaks Castle, Los Angeles, will close until further notice. It includes The Griffith Observatory, The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, and the EXPO Center.
13th MARCH: LEGOLAND California will close to the public starting 14th March through the end of March. It will remain open.
13th MARCH: The Los Angeles Public Library has closed the Central Library and all 72 branches through the end of March.
13th MARCH: San Diego Zoo and San Diego Safari Park will close to the public from 16th March through the end of March.
13th MARCH: Craft Contemporary will close to the public through the end of the month starting 14th March.
13th MARCH: Los Angeles County Museum of Art, La Brea Tar Pits Museum, Natural History Museum & William S. Hart Museum will close 14th March and remain closed until further notice.
13th MARCH: Museum in Yorba Linda and Richard Nixon Presidential Library to close at 5 p.m from Friday due to coronavirus and remain closed indefinitely.
13th MARCH: Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park to shut down beginning Saturday through 31st March due to coronavirus.
12th MARCH: The Broad museum will be closed to the public from Friday onwards, 13th March through at least Tuesday, the end of March.
12th MARCH: The Getty Villa and The Getty Center will close to the public indefinitely effective 14th March on Saturday.
12th MARCH: LA Pride organizers postponed all events related to the 50th Anniversary event scheduled for June 2020.
12th MARCH: The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley are both closings indefinitely after 5 p.m. Friday.
12th MARCH: Amoeba Music in Hollywood cancels all in-store performances through 31st March.
12th MARCH: Live Nation is instructing its touring programs, touring internationally and domestically, to prepare to return home.
12th MARCH: Anaheim Convention Center events have been postponed through 31st March.
12th MARCH: The Los Angeles Zoo will close to the public effective 13th March on Friday.
12th MARCH: Universal Studios Hollywood will temporarily close starting Saturday, 14th March. Universal CityWalk will remain open.
12th MARCH: Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure will close beginning Saturday, 14th March.
12th MARCH:: An array of Southland theaters have canceled performances due to coronavirus, including The Pantages, The Music Center, Center Theatre Group, and other venues.
12th MARCH:: All events at Walt Disney Concert Hall canceled through the end of March
11th MARCH: The Paley Center declares that it will postpone its signature PaleyFest LA event, which was scheduled to start. They said it was exploring options to reschedule the festival and that all ticket purchases would be honored for the new days.
11th MARCH: The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts announces all presentations, productions, public gatherings, and educational programs through the end of March have been postponed or canceled — including “Emil and the Detectives,” “Romantics Anonymous,” and Johnny Gandelsman’s Complete Bach Cello Suites concert on violin. The latest dates were not immediately announced.
11th MARCH: Organizers cancel the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is scheduled for June at the Los Angeles Convention Center. In 2017, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal, the biggest tech expo in the world carried more than 68,000 people to the city & generated more than $75 million,
10th MARCH: Goldenvoice declares the postponement of Coachella & Stagecoach until October 2020. The festival was initially scheduled to be held at the end of the week of 10th April & 16th April. It will now take place at the end of the week of 9th October and 16th October. The Stagecoach country music festival was changed to the weekend of 23rd October.
10th MARCH: RuPaul’s DragCon LA announces that it will cancel its event scheduled for May at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The show will return to the city in 2021. The show said it was working with Eventbrite to issue refunds for existing DragCon LA ticket holders over the next seven days.
10th MARCH: Los Angeles Times postpones the 25th Festival of Books to the weekend of 3rd October & 4th October on the USC campus. The 4th Food Bowl, previously set for May, will also be moved to the fall, pending an official date.
10th MARCH: Sony Pictures pushes the United States. the Release date for the Peter Rabbit sequel “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway” from 3rd April to 7th August.
9th MARCH: Rock band Pearl Jam postpones part of its 2020 Gigaton tour set to perform in Los Angeles and San Diego.
8th MARCH: The 2020 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, scheduled to start Monday, was canceled Sunday.
25th FEBRUARY: Korea Times Music Festival scheduled to take place on 25th April at the Hollywood Bowl postponed. Artists who had been expected to act at the festival included comedian K-pop group Momoland, Kim Young-Cheol, and singer and songwriter Ha Sung-Woon.
