Overwatch will begin its limited time annual event- The Summer Games on August 9, 2018, and it will go on till August 30, 2018. An official statement mentioned above was issued over Twitter this Thursday.
This game will witness the return of Lucioball, the football inspired 3v3 game mode. Previous Lucioball arenas included Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Sydney, and Australia. Blizzard also revealed a new setting in a series of its tweets: Busan, South Korea.
Blizzard stated that the decision to select Busan as one of the virtual settings was most probably influenced by the game’s sudden increase in popularity in the East Asian parts of the nation.
During the Summer Games event, players will be able to earn new skins for other characters: Waveracer D.VA (Legendary), Gridironhardt Reinhardt (Legendary), and Catcher Winston (Legendary).
Just previous month, Blizzard added another character, the 28th one to its overwatch in Wrecking Ball. Its abilities include Quad Cannons, Roll, Grappling Claw, Minefield, Adaptive Shield, and Piledriver. This is a giant mech pilot known as “Hammond”, who shares his origin with Winston, which is yet another character in the game. Winston is an extremely intelligent gorilla from Horizon Lunar Colony. This colony was added to the game just last year. It was an experiment that was created to turn gorillas into scientists but the consequences tended to be disastrous.
The subject rebelled, which launched human scientists into space.
When Bizzard was asked about how Wrecking Ball can be used in the new match, they said this- “When Wrecking Ball is at his strongest, he can use Minefield [to fling] mines onto the ground that deals a considerable amount of damage to enemies unfortunate enough to trigger them. As the sixth tank hero in the Overwatch lineup, Wrecking Ball provides disruption while also being an aggressive bruiser that bullies the enemy’s backline, eliminating vulnerable heroes that are left unguarded. He excels at disrupting enemies’ positioning with his Roll and Piledriver abilities while also posing a serious threat if he’s left alone to train his Quad Cannons on key targets“.
