Google confirmed in October the release of the most coveted Astrophotography feature in the older Pixel model that was launched along with the Pixel 4 last month. Now they are rolling out with the new version of the Google Camera app v7.2 for the first and second-generation Pixel smartphones reportedly revealed to be Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel, and Pixel XL. And this update will be added with the new Astrophotography feature, a special feature that is part of the night sight.

Astrophotography feature will be added in the Google Camera app and the user can download this update from the play store. However, this feature will not be available in all of the older phones just on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a pair as was promised by Google.

This function is not supported by the first-generation mobiles but if the users wish to use it, they can download the Google Camera app mod created by senior XDA-Developers member cstark27 in which this feature is available but it won’t work as smoothly as it does in the other supported models.

Google Camera app v7.2 is available for all the models and can be downloaded through the play store. However, the new feature for every device will vary from each other according to the model. It mainly brings in a new camera UI that has long been revealed in Pixel 4. For the changes, the camera modes are now placed on the bottom and for the shutter, photo review, and camera switcher, they are located at the top of the camera line. A new small drop-down arrow has been added which will contain the toggles of the flash, timer, RAW, motion, HDR, and ratio aspect for the images.

In the previous version, the pixel users had to visit the more section to pop up the setting page but now for quicker actions, it has been moved down below in the dropdown window. The dual exposure slider and the live HDR are also not available for the older pixel devices. They just the vertical slider which is for adjusting exposure and for the horizontal slider, it is used to control the zoom.

With such tweaks, the experience of the user in older pixel smartphones will surely enhance and become more similar to Pixel 4. It should also be noted that for this update, the users need to have the Android 10 version to enjoy these fresh new functions of the Google Camera app.
