Netflix and Amazon Prime Video may be popular across the world, but, Hotstar is the top streaming service in India. This streaming service is not so expensive as the other one, and also it has a big list of India-friendly content. It has movies and TV shows in different Indian languages, live sports, and famous global TV shows. This app is now starting to offer the various live TV channels that are available on the Star network. Some of the channels of Star network are Star Plus, Star Jalsa, Star Vijay, Asianet, Star Sports 1, and Star Sports 1 Hindi.
Gadgets 360 confirms that selective Star channels are now available live on Android and iOS apps of Hotstar. The app can easily access live TV channels by just doing a tap on the TV section and, after that, select Popular Channels. The list of channels that will stream live are Star Plus, Star Jalsha, Star Vijay, Star Bharat, Asianet, Star Maa, Star Pravah, Asianet Plus, Star Suvarna, Maa Gold, Star Utsav, Star Sports 1, Star Sports 2, Star Sports Select 1 HD, Star Sports Hindi 1, and Star Sports Select 2 HD.
The viewer should have a subscription to Hotstar Premium or VIP paid plans to access the live TV service easily. The Premium plan price is Rs. 299 per month or for a year, its price is Rs. 999. The VIP plan price is Rs. 365 per year, and it will have access to only Star network content.
The live channels will stream the same as you see if you subscribe to these channels on cable or DTH TV connections. Moreover, the availability of sports channels means that the users will now be able to stream the sports channel that may not be separately available on the Hotstar service directly.
However, the Star channels are not the first TV channels that are offered as live by Hotstar. The service also provides the news channels like India Today, Republic TV, Sky News, Fox News, Fox Business, Aaj Tak, ABP News, News Nation, TV9 Bharatvarash, Asianet news, and more live. A user can easily watch news channels on the Web version of Hotstar also. Right now, it is not available for the Star channels.
Meanwhile, Disney+ is also going to bring its content to Hotstar on 29th March. There is no confirmation that it will affect the price of Hotstar or not. The service’s name will be changed to Disney+ Hotstar.
