Back in 2015, Microsoft released its very own launcher. One of the best Android launchers then called “Arrow.” Later in 2017, it rebranded as “Microsoft Launcher.”
Since then, the launcher has seen several upgradations. The app got quiet popularity, particularly among the business, which uses Microsoft services.
The latest update made to the launcher brings further significant changes in the key areas. The Microsoft launcher gets its most significant upgrade yet with landscape support, dark mode enhancement, new UI, and a number of performance improvements such as fluent animation, speed to load, battery optimization, and low memory utilization, and many more.
Microsoft Launcher 6.0 version is now available for the public preview. For the new version, Microsoft is rewriting the app on a newer codebase. It means that some of the features of the older version will no longer be available.
You can now use the home screen of your phone in landscape mode. It also includes new widgets, icons. The app list, activity area, search UI, and dock got renewed entirely.
The older transparent theme, as well as the system theme option, have been removed. However, the theme yet switches from light to dark mode automatically with your system. The option to turn it off is eliminated.
You can find a complete redesign of the welcome header. The recent apps for the latest version get a horizontal divider.
Moreover, the latest version 6.0 of the app now features support for the landscape mode. It is helpful for people who use their phones with a Bluetooth keyboard.
On the other hand, Microsoft emphasizes this update to be an alpha preview. And people who are okay with the frequent crashes and bugs can download this. As this app is a separate listing on the play store, users can keep the stable build along with this preview. They can always switch between the stable version and alpha preview.
