Nikon is one of the big companies that are participating in CES 2020, and it made few announcements at the press event. This famous camera maker announced the upcoming models of two of its top-rated cameras, including D750 DSLR and Coolpix P900 superzoom cameras.
The first new variant of Nikon is the Nikon D780. It is said to offer a significant advantage over the D750. D780 features face and eye detection, on-sensor phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and 4K video capture with full-pixel readout.
In the US, the Nikon D780 will be available in late January. The price of the camera includes $2,300 (around Rs. 1,65,400) for the body. And $2,800 (Rs. 2,01,000 roughly) with the AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR lens.
Also, Nikon unveiled the successor to the Coolpix P900 as the Coolpix P950. The features of Nikon Coolpix P950 include 4K video capability, RAW support, and an improved electronic viewfinder with a 2.3 million dot resolution.
Still, the camera has the 83x optical zoom, the same as its predecessor. The camera, indeed will be available for sale in February for $800 (approximately Rs. 57,500). At CES 2020, Nikon also announced new lenses for its F-cameras and Z-mount cameras. The Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S for its Z-series cameras is a zoom lens. It is meant for wildlife and action photography that will be priced at $2,600 ( Rs. 1,86,900 roughly). The AF-S Nikkor 120-300mm f/2.8E FL ED SR VR is also a fast zoom lens with a constant wide aperture in the focal range for F-mount cameras. Its pricing is $9,500 (around Rs. 6,83,000). Both lenses will be available for sale from February.
The Nikon D780 is an FX-format full-frame DSLR with a 24.5-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor. Nikon’s Expeed 6 image processor powers it. It gets an enhanced ISO range that goes up to 51,200 natively and is expandable up to 2,04,800. D780 can also do 7fps burst shooting and a shutter speed range of 900s to 1/8000 of a second. While using the optical viewfinder, users can utilize the 51-point autofocus (AF) system with 15 cross-type AF points. In the live view shooting, the D780 uses 273 PDAF points inherited from the Z6 mirrorless camera for quick and accurate focusing. It is also the first Nikon DSLR that lets it do eye-detection autofocus.
The Nikon D780 also has excellent video capabilities. Without pixel binning, It can shoot 4K videos at 30fps. It also provides 10-bit output with Hybrid Log-Gamma or N-Log support for HDR workflows. There is an improvement in the body of the camera, too. Now, you get a 3.2-inch tilting LCD touchscreen display, a USB Type-C port with in-camera battery charging. There are two SD card slots with UHD-II supported speeds on both, and built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Executive Vice President of Nikon, Jay Vannatter, said, “In technology, the Nikon D780 is not only a big leap over the D750. But it also combines the latest cutting-edge technologies of Nikon to offer the best set of video feature and imaging capabilities in a full-frame DSLR.”
