Facebook, to give users more control over their privacy, started Off-Facebook Activity. Mark Zuckerberg, Ceo of Facebook, announced several new features, and one among them is this privacy tool.
This Off-Facebook activity tool is now available for all users around the world. It will allow users to disconnect their identity from browsing history. So, Facebook will not be able to track which websites users visited.
In the settings tab of your Facebook, you will find this tool, and when you click on it, you can view a summary of information, which Facebook receives about your activity on other websites and apps. You will be further able to disconnect that information from your account.
On Tuesday, Zuckerberg, in a statement, said, “Other businesses send us information about your activity on their sites. And we use that information to show you ads that are relevant to you. Now you can see a summary of that information and clear it from your account if you want to.”
He also added, “Off-Facebook Activity marks a new level of control and transparency.”
Facebook will further show a prompt for near two billions of people assisting them to review their privacy settings, across the next few weeks.
Mark Zuckerberg said, “The prompt will show up in your News Feed and further directs you to the Privacy Checkup tool that we updated recently.”
This tool will make it more comfortable for you to regulate who can see your profile information and posts. You can moreover increase your account security by turning on alerts to logins. Likewise, review the information you share with apps you have logged in using Facebook.
Facebook has also introduced alerts for third-party logins. This social media giant will moreover let the users sign into other services and apps through Facebook account. Further, the apps include steaming platforms, gaming apps, shopping apps, etc.
Adding that one of his primary goals is to build much more powerful privacy protections for every user on Facebook, Zuckerberg said, “Earlier this month, to help users keep track of their activity, we have rolled out Login Notifications. These notifications alert users when they use Facebook Login to sign in to third-party apps to help them stay aware of how their account is being used and edit their settings.”
