Oppo smartwatch is rumored to be in work with a technology to measure electrocardiogram (ECG). The smartwatch will offer ECG monitoring similar to the Apple watch.
In last month at the “Inno Day 2019” conference in Shenzhen, Oppo announced that it would launch smartwatches. Along with this smart wireless headphones, and 5G customer-provided equipment (CPE) will also come in the first quarter of this year. Last year Brian Shen, Oppo Vice President, insult Xiaomi’s Mi Watch for its design as it is similar to the Apple Watch models.
On Weibo, a Chinese tipster shared that the Oppo smartwatch will come with the feature to measure EGC. He also mentioned that the smartwatch would come with a square design. The tipster didn’t specify any details about the launch of the smartwatch. But, we can expect some details about the new smartwatch model that can be announced at MWC 2020 next month.
Oppo is not the only company; many smartwatches are entering the market with ECG features. This trend was started by Apple Watch Series 4 that has the function to measure ECG. The three popular smartwatch models with ECG support are Apple Watch Series 5, Amazfit Verge 2, and Samsung Galaxy Active 2.
Oppo may expand its market through the ECG smartwatch. Vice President Shen last year suggested that what are the benefits of having a rectangular dial over a circular dial. Shen also said that a rectangular dial is better for viewing content over a circular dial.
