Redmi 5 from Xiaomi is expected to launch in India on March 14 this year. Xiaomi, the Chinese company has begun with teasers on the upcoming flagship. In the new teaser posted by the company on Twitter, they have said the new smartphone expected to launch in India will be a “compact powerhouse” in terms of its size and battery capacity. But the company has not given a single clue on the name of the upcoming unreleased smartphone in India. But if the speculations come right, it can be the Xiaomi Redmi 5.
On Thursday, a teaser was posted on Twitter with the caption, “#CompactPowerhouse is launching on 14th March! Slim, Sleek and compact! Yet a true super powerhouse! Guess what this is?” This teaser was posted by the Global VP and MD of Xiaomi India, Mr. Manu Kumar Jain. Teasing the launch of the new smartphone on March 14 has started since the launching of 32-inch and 43-inch variants of the new Mi TV 4A line-up from Xiaomi for India. The smartphone’s side profile image with a camera bump is pointing towards the possibility of Redmi 5 launch in India.

Redmi 5 is expected to hit well in the Indian markets as the Redmi 5A and Redmi 5 Plus (rebranded as Redmi Note 5 in India) are already available here. It is also expected to be a budget smartphone. It will be launching as an heir to the Redmi 4 and in pricing terms, it will be priced below Redmi Note 5 that launched in India at a base price of just Rs. 9,999.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 is a dual nano SIM smartphone with MIUI 9 and Android 7 Nougat out of the box. It has a 5.7 inch HD plus display with a resolution of 720×1440 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. Redmi 5 is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor and comes in three storage/ RAM variants like 2GB/ 3GB/ 4GB RAM variants and with 16GB/ 32GB internal storage.
Redmi Note 5 is sported with a 12 MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash and a front selfie camera with 5 MP with a “soft light” flash module and the company’s proprietary Beautify 3.0 capabilities. The smartphone is powered with a 3300mAh battery.
