In March last year, news suggested that WhatsApp started testing new Dark Mode for Android users. Facebook-owned Messenger until late November 2019 dropped hints about the latest dark mode on its platform. In the past few months, other apps from Facebook, like Instagram and Messenger, got the dark mode on Android. But, until now, we did not get the much-awaited Dark mode for WhatsApp on Android. We force enabled dark mode on some of the devices running on Android 10, but we did not get any solution from the company. After waiting for months, WhatsApp is now releasing the much-awaited Dark Mode to Android devices in its latest WhatsApp beta update.
A recent report from WABetaInfo, suggests that WhatsApp recently submitted a new update (v.2.20.13) through the Google Play Beta program. This update submitted includes the new Dark mode in it.
Once the dark mode is enabled, it changes every color in WhatsApp’s UI into a darker shade. However, it is not entirely black. The whites are changed to dark gray and the font from black to white, while the greens remain as it is. Now, the chat boxes are a darker shade of green and dark gray that are green and white previously.
