The latest MIUI 9 Global ROM update will be available for All Eligible Devices. This was announced by Xiaomi VP and India MD Manu Kumar Jain recently through Twitter quoting that MIUI9 will be compatible with all smartphones in India.

Even the oldest smartphones released by Xiaomi like Redmi 1S and Mi 3 will be receiving this update, said Jain. He also tweets users to check out the MIUI forum link that lists all the MIUI 9 eligible handsets for Fastboot, Recovery ROMs. The list consists of Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 4A, Redmi Note Prime, Mi 4i, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Prime, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 1S, Redmi Note 3, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Max, Mi Max Prime, Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1 Lite, Redmi 4, Mi 5, Mi MIX 2, Mi Max 2, Redmi Note 4. Also, some of these phones already have been provided with this update.

MIUI 9 comes with many attractive features like image search feature that distinguishes photos based on the keywords entered, faster load app times, shortcuts on the lock screen, new design elements, split screen feature, smart functionality etc. Another appealing feature is Smart Assistant that suggests apps to launch based on the screen. This facility can be accessed by swiping up from the home screen. There was an announcement back in November last year that the above update will be available in India.

Most Stable ROM users will receive an update notification automatically if their device is compatible with MIUI 9. Also, users can find the Update manually from Settings> About Phone> System update. Even though this is an official update from Xiaomi and the full change-log has been provided, still, it would be better to back up your data before the update.
