Google officially launched the successor of Android Oreo, which is Android 9 – Android Pie. The final build of this new version was released earlier during this month. The stable version of Android Pie is currently available only for Google’s Pixel range of smartphones (which includes Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL) along with the Essential Phone.
In addition to this, the giant announced that Android Pie will be soon available as OTA for several other devices. Android OEMs will be pushed on certain devices to update their handsets.
Some reports suggest that the HTC phones, specifically HTC U12+, U11+, U11, and U11 Life will be a few of the phones to receive the updated version of Android Pie OS, and the timelines for the same would be revealed in “due course”.
Not just HTC, Sony phones, specifically Sony Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Compact, XZ2 Premium, XZ1, XZ1 Compact, and XZ Premium will receive a slice of the Pie (Android Pie).
The report also specified that the Sony smartphones will be updated only during the months of September and November this year. On similar lines, the rollout for the HTC phones will happen soon. This has been confirmed via a tweet on HTC’s very own official Twitter account on Saturday. Out of all the HTC devices mentioned, the HTC U11 Life will receive an update through the Android One programme.
