WhatsApp started rolling out the new Android beta version 2.20.14 for testers. WABetaInfo tore down some information about the latest update to see if there is any progress. The tracker found that the company is making some improvements to the upcoming animated stickers feature. It also found that the company is working on tweaks regarding the much anticipated Delete Messages feature. At last, WhatsApp introduced a new feature for the iOS users recently, where they can register their WhatsApp account on a new iPhone without asking any credentials if you have enabled the iCloud Keychain. The latest beta code suggests that the WhatsApp is working on a similar feature for the Android platform as well.
Improvements in the Latest WhatsApp Android Beta update
The latest version 2.20.14 for Android brings a host of new improvements to light. WABetaInfo uncovers that the company is resuming its work on “animated stickers feature.” In the latest update, WhatsApp added a small play icon placed next to the packs that are animated. This is to enable the user to differentiate between animated and non-animated packs. This feature hasn’t been enabled for testing, as it is still under development. Due to this, you may not see it on your device, even if you are on the latest beta version.
In a previous article, we wrote about the Delete Messages feature. It seems like WhatsApp is improving this feature in the latest update. The latest beta version 2.20.14 adds a hidden improvement that will show the state of the feature, i.e., if it is on or not. But, if we set a time interval, then we can see the time slot. The Delete Messages feature helps the users to remove messages automatically in a chat after a certain time. As reported earlier, this feature works as a cleaning tool for the group chats. Only group admins can disable or enable it, and fix the time frame as to when the messages should be deleted. This feature, too, isn’t available for testing.
Lastly, it looks like WhatsApp is working on a feature called Account Transfer. This feature will let you register your WhatsApp on your new Android device, without asking for credentials. According to the tracker, this feature uses official Google APIs that allow transferring your WhatsApp data on another device without the need for new registration. WABetaInfo notes that there is no option in WhatsApp that allows managing this feature. WhatsApp will enable this feature as and when the company decides to make it commercial. There are little details about this feature and how it plans to work, as of yet.
