Xiaomi launched Mi 8 in China in May 2018 with MIUI 9 on the top of Android 8.1 Oreo. Back in November, the device started receiving an MIUI 11 update. The first update was based on Android 9 Pie. Again in December, Xiaomi released MIUI 11 based on Android 10.
Basically, Xiaomi does not follow any frequency of issuing the MIUI global stable ROM update, but the Global Stable ROM updates for every 30 to 45 days.
Along with the MIUI 11 update, the device received several new features, which include Kaleidoscope effects, Dynamic Clock, and custom codes placed on the always-on lock screen. It also brings Wallpaper Carousel, a Floating Calculator, new dynamic sound effects, a new minimalistic design, a new Mi File Manager app, and a Steps Tracker.
Until now, the Xiaomi’s MIUI 11 update is difficult to trace as it has a different naming convention for the update, and there are separate updates across various regions. Other than this complexity, there also seems to be a fragile distinction between the builds. It is only for the Mi Pilot beta testing program, which implies that the builds assigned for this group are not installed on devices with Mi Accounts, which do not have appropriate permission. And the same build also gets opens up as stable release, prompting a lot of confusion. If you get an error message designating the update is only for closed beta testers, you can still sideload the update.
