iPhone 12 series has been making rounds on the internet for quite some time, and it is speculated that Apple will launch the smartphones later this year. However, as we are still awaiting the confirmation about the smartphones from the Cupertino-based industry, many reports have indicated that the latest iPhone series will pack A14 Bionic processor along with 5G connectivity.
iPhone 12 Pro and its Other Variants’ 5G Connectivity Technology
Now, a marked tipster has claimed that the rumored 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch variants of the latest iPhone will support sub-6GHz 5G connectivity. It was also included that the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and the 6.7-inch Pro Max would support both sub-6GHz 5G and mmWave 5G technology.
The latest leaks had been highlighted by the well-known tipster Jon Prosser and tech analyst, who in the previous week had also tipped the alleged cost of the four rumored iPhone 12 variants. Prosser opined that since the 6.1-inch option of the iPhone 12 is not using the top end mmWave 5G technology, making the phone only $50 (Rs. 3,790) costlier than the iPhone 11 having the same screen size.
To place this in perspective, there are mainly two sorts of 5G technologies which might be generally adopted. These 5G technologies are mmWave, which offers more speeds, whereas it’s competitor sub-6GHz technology is more commonly used.
However, as pointed by Techradar, famous network carrier Verizon in the United States uses mmWave 5G technology. Hence the Vanilla iPhone 12 won’t work with mmWave 5G connectivity on that network. The details also state in the UK; for instance, no network carrier uses mmWave 5G technology; hence, it won’t affect users planning to buy the Vanilla iPhone 12.
But since the rumored 6.7-inch 12 Pro Max and 6.1-inch 12 Pro, support both mmWave 5G technology and sub-6GHz 5G, the users planning to buy the Pro option won’t face any issues in terms of 5G connectivity. It has not come to India yet, but the users who are planning to buy the latest iPhone will not be affected as per reports as the device still possess 4G connectivity.
According to the reports, Apple is yet to confirm the launch of the latest iPhone series. Therefore, all the details, as mentioned in the previous article, about the series should be considered as not sure until its official announcement. However, last week, Prosser claimed that the iPhone 12 starting price would be tagged at $649 (roughly Rs. 49,100), while the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max is tipped to cost $1,099 (approximately Rs. 83,200).
